KAYKOHL LAND'S HOMEMADE DIET FOR GERMAN SHEPHERDS:
(Modified from the original Satin Ball Recipe)
Ingredients
|
15 pounds raw hamburger meat, I use 27% fat |
Mix all ingredients together, much like you would a meatloaf.
Divide into freezer bags, about 1 lb each and freeze. Thaw and feed raw.
I add a heaping spoonful of cottage cheese and vanilla yogurt (with live cultures) when I feed it.
Once in a while I will substitute a couple pounds of raw ground turkey for hamburger, or a pound or two of raw chopped liver for hamburger.
To add variety a RAW chicken leg, thigh, or wing is good to give now and then. Bone and all. I do this once or twice a week.
Large RAW beef bones should be given at least twice a week every week. These can be purchased at the grocery store or from your local butcher. They are okay to give frozen, and less messy. I let the dogs eat these in their crates or on the porch.
Every dog has a different metabolism and activity level. Finding the right amount to feed is the key. Start off with about 1 lb per day and go from there.
Make sure all BEEF and CHICKEN has been previously frozen before feeding.
