Home of "Solo"
(Retired from our Program) Farrah, You should be
very proud of your boy. I was down town Detroit to drop off a form
at my uncles house. Well being as stupid as I am it was after dark
and there was not a parking spot near my uncles house. So being as
stupid as anyone could possibly be I left Solo in the car (my uncle is
petrified of dogs) after parking in the alley down the block. Well
no sooner did I get out of the car and take a few steps I was approached
by a drunk black man. I started back for my car and Solo. But
I only got a few steps before he grabbed my arm. I yelled for Solo
and somehow he squeezed out of the window. (I always leave it partially
open for him) The man immediate let me go as Solo came barreling at him
with every tooth hanging out of his mouth. Well lets just say he
found out what a good deep grip Solo has. I grabbed my cell
phone and called the police and Mr. Solo kept him in one place until they
got there. The police were very impressed with him. Once I got
him to out Solo was friendly to everyone around just as if it didn't
happen. I was treated for a few minor cuts. But the drunk
ended up with about 25 stitches on his leg and arm. If I hadn't had
Solo with me God only knows what would have happened. As for Solo he
was just in need of a good bath. The drunk was identified in a line
up by another woman as the man who had raped her. Solo truly is my
hero. He seems to think that I am helpless now though he always
seems to be very worried about me. I didn't know he could stick any closer
to me than he already did but he does. He seems to always be on guard and
gets very nervous if we go out at night. I have been told that
that's normal and that he will relax as time goes by. Well I better
let you go. I just thought I should let you know. Again you
raised a truly spectacular dog.

of SG2-Kaykohl's Qwake von Falcon CGC, & Racie von Kaykohl Land,
CGC Hi
Farrah, I find myself not sleeping tonight and browsing around the GSD
websites to see what’s going on in the various breeding and training
programs. The male puppy available on your website is about as darling
as he can possibly be. What a stunning little guy!! Your dogs continue
to impress me every time I check out your site to see what you have
going on with them.
Qwake and Racie continue to be the center of our lives. They bring us
such an incredible amount of joy. They are both so totally loved and
adored. I can never thank you enough for entrusting them with us. Every
single day, Dan and I are saying one thing or another about how grateful
we are for both of them and how they have enriched our lives. They are
both wonderful, wonderful dogs who keep us thoroughly fulfilled and
entertained. They are both completely content as long as they are at our
sides. It doesn’t ever matter what we are doing or where we are going.
Life is worth living as long as they are with us.
Qwake is such a handsome, loving, and loyal boy. He takes his job as our
companion and protector very seriously. He remains my pride and joy. I
know you would be so proud of him. A friend of mine recently told me
that he had seen “the” most handsome male GSD dog riding in a
jeep with someone. I told him I knew that couldn’t possibly be true
because Mister Qwake was out working in the garden with me all day!!
LOL He can hardly stand himself at night as he awaits Dan getting
into bed. He pounces with such enthusiasm to love, hug, kiss, slobber,
and talk to him about all that has gone on during his day. We have quite
the nightly ritual of “adoration of the alpha male” going on in our
house!! 8-)
Our little, Miss Racie is simply the light of my life. She has such a
zest for living. Every single thing in life is “her favorite.”
Eat, Drink, Run, Play, Chew, Train, Go, Fetch, Chase, Catch, Walks,
Watch, Bark, Hug, Kiss, Love... It doesn’t matter what it is. Whatever
is presented to her that particular moment is her absolute favorite
thing to do. Well..., correction. As long as it isn’t going to
the vet or getting her nails trimmed, it’s her favorite!! LOL There is
a some kind of saying out there about laughing a couple dozen times a
day helping with overall good health. If there was no one else or
nothing else in my life except Racie, I would laugh a couple dozen times
a day. She is so funny!! And FYI..., Yes. She continues to own Dan’s
soul:))
We took them up to The Trinities a couple weeks ago. They were beside
themselves every time Dan cast his fishing pole. He is usually throwing
something in the water for them to chase down and bring back. There were
too many people and fishing lines around to have them going into the
water, so they had to stay on-leash. To have him casting out a fishing
line and not a ball or stick for them was more than they could stand:)
We took an anniversary trip to The Redwoods in California the first of
April. They loved getting to run on the beach. It was still too cool for
anyone to be out there, so they got to stretch out and run off leash.
They loved getting to hike the various trails of the places we stopped
to see. We took a gondola ride up one of the mountains. Racie wasn’t too
sure about that moving, swinging gondola gliding through the air, but
Qwake took it all in stride.
Qwake tends to be just a little bit more adventurous than Racie:) She
prefers solid ground beneath her feet unless it has to do with
water. When it came to learning about water, Racie took to it like a
fish. Qwake took a bit longer to adjust to the whole water thing. The
only reason he learned how to swim was that he couldn’t stand having
Racie swim out and get the ball or stick instead of him. He finally
decided if she could do it, he could too. No little girl was going to
show him up!!
I had gotten away from walking them for several months over the winter.
I didn’t have a good reason. I just stopped for awhile. When they went
in for their annual check-ups in June, they had both put on some weight.
Qwake was 5 pounds heavier than Dr. Calhoun wants him to be. Racie was 7
pounds heavier. He gave me three months to get it back off, or at least
moving that direction. He is doing a weight check in September on them.
I asked him if he was going to do a weight check on me also after I got
off my tush and got them out walking again. LOL
Looking and feeling Qwake, I think the five pounds is back off of him.
Checking out Racie, I’m guessing she’s lost about three of hers. She’s
much more of a chow hound than Qwake is, which is funny since he’s so
much bigger than she is. It isn’t unusual for him to leave a little bit
in his bowl. She does her best to sneak over and finish it off without
anyone catching her. It is quite the triumph for her when she pulls it
off without getting caught and getting it taken away from her.
Consequently, it’s taking her a little bit longer to take hers
completely off....., which is also the same reason she had gained a
couple more than he had!! She’s such an adorable, little booger!! LOL
After having written you another “book,” I think I will sign off and see
if I can get back to sleep. I’ve wanted to touch base for months and
haven’t taken the time to do it. Now that I finally sat down to touch
base with you, I couldn’t stop telling you all about our beasties:)
Thank you for them, Farrah. They mean the world to us and enrich our
lives every single day.
I hope all is well with your family, your dogs, and your business.

& Rallie von Kaykohl Land (Both Certified Therapy
Dogs) Hi Farrah, Both Nitrous
and Ralli are doing great. For Nursing Home Week in May, Ralli will
be "Rin Tin Tin" with my son as "Rusty". The theme is Hollywood
centre stage and we believe that most of the residents will remember the
show. We will send lots of pics from that day. They are both
favorites at the nursing home, the joy they give to the residents is
priceless. Of course the treats the dogs receive give them joy as
well! Ragu was over today for a play-date. They all had a great time
acting like silly nuts. They are wonderful animals. Thank you for sharing
them with us.

Home of Rev von Kaykohl Land Rev is a wonderful puppy and joy to own. He
is enrolled in a puppy obedience class and does extremely well. There is
no doubt about his intelligence he is a very bright boy. I was told by the
instructor that he does extremely well. Nice of her to tell me but I new
he was doing well! I just love him and he is growing like a weed. People
make nice comments about him all the time. He went into a coffee shop last
week with my friend and her adult Shepherd. He was a perfect little
gentleman even though I would not allow him to have a cappuccino. I shall
send you a picture or two hopefully next week.

Rowdy von Kaykohl Land Hi Farrah: Just wanted you to
know Hogan is finishing "doggie school" this week. He is doing
great! He has had three solid weeks of training and does: Sit, wait,
down, stay, leave it, right here, quiet, go to your rug etc. He works
around distractions well, and walks right next to us with a leash and
without. Last Saturday I walked him to our local coffee shop (where dogs
are allowed inside) and a couple of the local police officers were in
there. They absolutely fell in love with Hogan (both have K-9) experience
and they loved how well behaved Hogan was. He does a few funny things
around here like opening his own doors, but the latest that cracked me up,
was his ability to get his own ice cubes. He loves ice cubes, so I guess
he figured out how to get them himself from the refrigerator door. One
night right in front of me he walked over jumped up and batted at the
lever until a couple of cubes fell out. He took them casually over to the
rug and started eating them. Jen and I could not stop laughing.
Hogan still gets to go to the lake every Saturday and has a group play
date with his buddies. He seems to like the water a lot. He won't swim in
it, but he like hopping around in it and barking at the ducks and geese.
Hope all is well there! Talk to you soon.

Alaska, (AKA Preppie) is a beautiful, loving and playful girl -
very high strung but extremely intelligent. She is highly trained
and among her cutest "tricks" she can "go choose a toy" out of her
toy basket and clean up all her toys when asked to "put her toys
away." Perhaps one day we may be looking for a male companion.
Hope all is well there, too.

Home of Pepsi von
Kaykohl Land Thank You so so much for using Pepsi's picture on Your
web page. I am very proud of Her. She recently won 1st place
in a local kennel club puppy obedience class. She terrorizes all the other
dogs but she knows her sit, down, stay, heel, and leave it better than all
others by a long shot. She is a loving pet at home and gets along with my
two cats fine. She is very affectionate with me never leaves my
side. She is very high energy and doesn't get to see many people despite
my best efforts. She and Moser are the best of friends but that is where
she learned to play rough with other dogs . I have enrolled her in the
next obedience class which begins on Oct 14. I will continue to socialize
her and continue with her training for as far as she wants to go . Hope to
hear from you soon and will send you more photos. She Is
Beautiful!

Land Dear Farrah: Thank you, I love Poker, just
have to get used to a baby again.
He is happy here, although he has one vice,
he likes getting on the bed, since I live alone most of the time, he can
have that privilege. Thank you very much, I think he is a class act,
and believe he will respond to training very well. We already walk
twice a day, but do recall you mentioned he likes to walk. The
more Poker is exposed around town, the more I have people expressing
interest in a GSD breed. So if you want business, let me know.
In the mean time, take care and stay in
touch.

of Pancho von Kaykohl Land We are doing well. Pancho, AKA
"Roadie" has become a strapping young lad and has a ton of energy.
I brought him to work w/ me today so he can hang out w/ our crew here
and run around all day and tire himself out some. He does like to
chase after hockey pucks and run around on our ice floor w/ every claw out
trying to get some traction. Here's a shot of him sitting on top of
a pile of shaved ice in our Zamboni pit: He's great w/ people and
likes to be into everything that you're doing. He's also very good
w/ other dogs and young kids. And needless to say, he loves the
attention he gets. He's doing great and everyone that comes into
contact with just adores him. He's got a great personality and as I
mentioned earlier, his energy level is second to none. It quite
common for us to work 12-13 hours during a hockey game day and he hangs
out w/ one of my security guards riding in or running along the side
of his security golf cart all day long without one nap. When I
get him home that night, he turns into a piece of goo and sleeps for 12
hours and is ready to go at it again the next day. I'm very happy w/
him and he seems to love where he's at. My roommate is looking to
get a pure-bread Labrador in the next few days so we'll see how he does w/
a "little brother."

Lola continues to do very well. She has bonded
quite closely with our Lab & they are just about inseparable and play
constantly. Lola is fearless and relentless. We have been taking the
Lab to other rooms so Lola gets one-on-one time as well. She has
bonded very strongly to me already. Everybody is taking turns
"supervising" her, but my wife said that it's clear she's decided that I
am her person. We had my Mom to dinner last nite and when I left for
a few minutes to drive my Mom home, my wife said Lola waited by the door I
left through and cried. When she sees me, she wags her tail
vigorously and immediately comes to me for petting and affection.
She is quite good about being handled in any way and it has been easy to
pill her. She is doing better in the crate, especially when we put
her to bed for the nite. She's just a wonderful little girl--
everything I was hoping for. Thanks for your kind offer to provide
advice and answer questions as may be necessary. I'll be touch with
regular updates. Take care.

Home of Rouge von Kaykohl Land,
CGC Hi
Farrah, Thought I would take a moment to write with an update on
Rouge. We call her Charlotte. She is growing up to be a wonderful
companion. I could not be happier. She has one of the best
temperaments I have seen. She passed her CGC test on June 18th.
We joined the German Shepherd Dog Training Club of Chicago. We have been
going since Charlotte was 3 months old. Our instructor suggested that I
take her to some shows and get her Obedience title. He says she is more
than ready. I am attaching a photo that was taken on her 1st
birthday, July 3rd. We were camping on a friends 150 acre parcel of land.
She is lying in a bed of clover. I am also attaching a copy of her AKC and
CGC certificates for your files. Again, thank you so very much
for such a wonderful addition to our family.

Spicey von Kaykohl Land "Arwen"
is settling in well. We are working on teaching her to respond to
her name. Leash training is going well. Short walks to the mail box
followed by wild, ball tossing romps in the backyard. She does not
pull; instead she stays at an almost perfect heal. Sit and down are almost
there. She does not play bite often and responds well to correction
when it does happen. She grips the tug-o-war rope with
tenacity. Her bark drowns out the lawnmower. She has slayed
the broom monster. Her curiosity takes her into, around, and under
almost everything; but she does not let us get out of sight as we walk
around the yard. While guiding her around to the back yard, she
slipped past the gate and led me on a chase around the neighbor's
house; stopping at the corners to look back to see if was following.
Arwen is a delightful handful. The smoke alarm went off
this evening while dinner was cooking. Arwen perked her ears
initially, but otherwise remained quite unfazed by the shrieking.
She never got up from lounging position on the sofa. I'm
impressed. The same noise always put Gandalf into a state. I
am anxious to send photos, but just found that my digital camera has again
failed. I'll get something worked out soon though. We are
eager to have some puppy photos. She's a wonderful creature, thank
you so much.

Home of Remus von Kaykohl Land Farrah - I just thought I'd check in
to let you know Monte (Remus) seems to like his new home in Alaska -
once he finally made it here! He did very well on the road trip - we
have decided he is going to be a traveling dog! We have been home almost
a week now and he is settling into a routine. We took him to our Vets on
Tuesday - everyone oogled and awed over him. He really is a handsome
dog! Our cat Yoda still can't decide if he likes this creature that can
follow him everywhere. Monte's new game is to pull Yoda's tail - Yoda
does not like that! Monte took his first airplane ride with Al on
Saturday. He did very well - just assumed it was a different kind of
car. They landed on a beach which provided all sorts of new smells and
items to go in his mouth! We have photos to send you one I get them off
the camera. Just wanted to Thank You and let you know all was going
well. We will be in touch.
