I thought perhaps you might like to hear about Bretta as it has been quite
some time. She just celebrated her 4th birthday last week end and it is
hard to believe she's been with me that long. We made a trip to the local
doggy bakery for some special birthday treats. She continues to be my
constant companion. We hike and travel everywhere together and I wouldn't
have it any other way. Her love of the snow and water is unbelievable
which is great because I love to be on the mountain or in the river. Bretta
collects the biggest tree limbs she can carry and I have to be careful that
she doesn't clip my legs out from under me as she isn't a good judge of how
much distance to allow in passing. Located in Montana |

Home of Moser von Kaykohl Land Hi Farrah: Max (Moser) will be 3 yrs on 9/14. He's been on the BARF diet and went from 103 to 94 lbs. He is an amazing animal. Everywhere I take him people comment on his beauty. His temperament is as amazing as his looks. I have to again commend you on your outstanding breeding program and thank you for this magnificent dog. Located in New York 5 |

of VP2-Knievel von Kaykohl Land (2005 Canadian Sieger Show, 3-6 month Vice
Sieger) (Knievel is the first puppy on the far left of the photo) ![]() Farrah, I just wanted to drop you a line and tell you EXACTLY what I think of the puppy you sent me. I’m not a new comer to dogs, I have titled and shown most working breeds for years in AKC, USA SCHUTZ, SV and many other disciplines. I have learned not to be easily impressed by fancy snap shots on the internet, boastings of "top bloodlines" and terms like, "This dog has a high prey drive and hard temperament." I have six, yep SIX children. My house is a happy, loud and chaotic zoo most of the time. Vacuums, yelling, pots crashing, and water fights. Actually the gun shy test holds nothing to the volume and explosive nature of my house. The puppy you sent me is by far the most promising potential I have ever brought into my home and that is saying A LOT...After being on the road in a crate with you for 3 days, he came out of the crate, shook of the dust and proclaimed the house his. He NEVER, not once whined, showed stress or even hesitated about any new stimuli. He walked up to all 4 of my adult bitches and didn’t back down for any reason. On the same token however, my 1yr old little boy can take a chew bone, ball or anything else out of his mouth and Knievel will respect the baby’s status in the family. My little guy will sometimes use the puppy as a brace to keep himself from falling, grabbing hide on the way to the floor and the puppy will hold very still until the baby gets his footing again, licks him on the face and trots happily off to find the next kid to toss him the ball. I don’t let my kids torture the dog by any means but when accidents happen, its nice to be assured I have a dog that will not respond in inappropriate aggression. I took him to Ring Sport 3 days later and then I really was impressed. He was slow and methodical, watching the decoy calmly at my side until the prey was in reach. Then it was a full mouthed, hard bite. He showed no stress to any pressure and was completely comfortable being "puppy caned" over his whole body. After the decoy released him and gave him his reward, the dog immediately pushed the bite toy HARD against the agitator and said, "lets go again" Afterwards he sat calmly at my side waiting for his turn again. He has a lovely ON and OFF switch. The next best thing about him is, you would think being a puppy separated from his litter, that he would be drawn to the other dogs. NOPE! He is completely people focused. If he has to choose between a romp with the dogs or sitting at my feet with a ball, (which he is NUTS for and has a 100% retrieval record so far) He picks me every time. I take him in stores, the hospital, you name it, he is undaunted by any new thing or experience. BUT the best thing about this whole deal is, You Farrah, and your kids. I have not yet run into many breeders where its not about money or their reputation, picking apart other breeders and quite frankly being a WEIRDO dog person that non-dog people go to dog shows just to watch and laugh at! You really care about your dogs and the homes they go to first. Your passion for the breed and the heart to keep it going shows in so many ways......I love the fact you are not kennel blind and are willing to see the faults in your animals and try to make them better, instead of letting your pride and arrogance blind you from continuing to learn. I am blessed I have found you and my new dog is a keeper!! Thank you so MUCH!!! ![]() ![]() Located in Washington 6 |

I just wanted to let you know that Liberty is doing wonderful. The kids liked her name and didn't want to change it. I call her Libbie though. Liberty makes us laugh all the time. She gets along perfect with our other dog, Baby. Baby thinks she is Liberty's mommy and they snuggle together. Libbie is doing fantastic with her crate training and doesn't even cry at night. She in fact welcomes going into it at bedtime. She seems to have adjusted to her new home just fine and alert, spunky and curious. She also appears to be a quick learner. I will be sending photo's soon, Thanks again,

Belle is doing great! She is settling down nicely, the puppy demons don't possess her quite so often. The snow today was great fun, of course. She ran and dragged her nose in it most of the day. This is not to say her puppy days are over, clearly we have a ways to go yet, but all in all, she is doing great. The girls love her dearly and she gets loved about 6 - 10 times each day. Joe is suspicious that Belle is the worst puppy that ever lived :) (he doesn't remember his dog of 10 years, acting like this when she was a puppy) and I think she is wonderful. She respects the horses and has stayed out of trouble with them, since her incident with Smokey back in the Spring. She herds the chickens, periodically. If they wander too far from their pen, she rounds everybody up a gets them back to where chickens belong. She likes an orderly yard. She loves playing ball and fetch, although she isn't keen on dropping anything for you. I am sure that will come. All in all, I'd say we are doing well. Located in Montana |

Hi Farrah, Kila is a great little dog and I wouldn't trade her for anything.....especially an aggressive dog that I would not trust around kids. I saw the parents of Kila and was fascinated with them. I knew I made the right choice when I saw them and felt comfortable with your expertise. I am real partial to the type of dog you produce. Kila loves to play tug. She usually does not chase and retrieve a toy for me because she wants my husbands' dog to retrieve it so she can take it from him. I will have to separate them in the future so she will not be distracted from her play. We started Kila on tracking today. She did pretty well considering my tracks were not very great. I can't see her having a problem with this phase if I get the right instruction. If I can get Kila titled in Schutzhund then I will keep going. I will take her as far as I can. She is such a little buddy for me. Thank you again!

Your boy is doing fine - now 40 lbs at 17 weeks, ears up and socialization going very well. We have walked him for miles over the past month, on new trails around Mt Tampalpais, and he has had a chance to meet many people and dogs. He is sometimes aloof with strangers but no longer apprehensive around them and regards any dog as a potential playmate. He seems to have an effortless gait and we have to remember not to walk so far at times because he shows no sign of tiring or lagging no matter what we do. He has been on the boat, to the beach, and all over town. Located in

Lexie's
visit went very well - not that I expected anything different. A couple of
the techs were GSD fans and thought everything about her was "very nice".
Even the vet commented on her table sweeper of a tail. They were surprised
at how calm and friendly she was the whole time she was there. I told them
she came from a great breeder. Located

Hurst is doing very well. He has arrived and settled in. He acts like he owns the place and is already "guarding" his territory (as much as a pup can do ;). He is beautiful and his temperament seems flawless. Thanks again for him and I will send you some updated pictures soon. Located in Florida |

Farrah, things have been quite hectic. Thanks for checking in on us. Gotcha is absolutely gorgeous. She arrived and was a little scared but has since warmed up and is doing great. I couldn't ask for a better puppy. Our whole family loves her. Her temperament has been unbelievable she is so well behaved. Everybody can not get over how well she acts. She has been the greatest gift(beside our daughter) that we have received from Santa. Everything is going along as scheduled. I will get the contract signed and sent back this week. I want to thank you for making this purchase and new addition to the family a wonderful time for us. It shows how much love and care goes into your dogs.I am so happy with this whole experience and look for many joy filled years with our puppy. Oh! By the way we have changed the name Gotcha to one that you might like. Yeah that's right we named her after her mommy... Farrah!!! I thank it fits real nice and she is starting to learn it. I will call after the holidays to touch base and I might have a couple of questions. I wish you and your family a great Christmas and a Blessed New Year. Thanks again for everything I am so pleased. Jessica is doing great. We got a new kitten about a month ago. At first we thought Jessica was going to kill her. She did not like having a new kitten in the house. She had always gotten along with our other cats, but I kept introducing them slowly with each other. About 2 weeks later they are now best friends. The kitten sleeps with her every night, and they play nonstop whenever they are together. Just moments ago, the two of them were playing tug-of-war with Jessica's rope. She is the greatest dog. Hi Farrah, I wanted let you know Ember received her Canine Good Citizen yesterday. We didn't practice for it at all, I heard of someone offering the test and away we went. She is so attentive to me and has great eye contact. I think we are going to pursue some obedience titles with her. Our club is a conformation club, but there is another training club not too far from us. I believe I could train her myself, but its always more fun working with others. Of course they will be A.K.C style titles, CD and hopefully on to a CDX. I have mostly entered our dogs in the conformation ring. Now I will have to enter the ring myself. At least I will save money on handler fees! Located

Home of Chili von Kaykohl Land We had an exciting weekend with Mac. He explored the backyard and I think that he heard the words "No biting" more than he wanted to. He loves to play. His world revolves around a basket of toys and his food and water dish. We took some pictures this weekend and will send some to you. Scout, the beagle, was here this weekend. He isn't to enchanted with Mac. He likes bigger dogs so I am sure that they will become friends soon. Mac discovered the dog next door and his bark at the same time. That bark isn't very scary right now. I hope the other puppies are doing well. Will keep you updated. Located in Ohio |

Alaska, (AKA Preppie) is a beautiful, loving and playful girl - very high
strung but extremely intelligent. She is highly trained and among her cutest
"tricks" she can "go choose a toy" out of her toy basket and clean up all her
toys when asked to "put her toys away." Perhaps one day we may be looking for
a male companion. Hope all is well there, too.

Hi Farrah, sorry
it's taken me so long to write. Lefty (Shayne) is the most absolutely fabulous dog
in the world! I cannot thank you enough. We started obedience school on Sunday
and he did great. He acted like he knew everything, he does know everything, it is
amazing! He is housebroken, comes to my bed every morning and licks me till I drag
my butt out of bed. Plays wonderful with the kids and our little
yorkie. He is my constant companion, never leaves my side - even if we walk
down to the mailbox out front, where there is no fence (unleashed).
Unbelievable! and so much more than I had hoped. Thanks again, and I'll send
photos soon! Lisa |

Home of Bruno von Kaykohl Land Bruno is doing
great--like you said he is truly an athlete--we have started jogging together every day
(usually I have always let him do the running by throwing the ball or other games) and he
is never worn out. We moved into a new place and after long negotiations I finally talked
my fiance Janey into letting him stay full time inside the house. We used to
have a problem with him chewing up everything in sight--but he has started to
get over that, and it probably helps that he gets a bone every day.

Hello Farrah, We Bought Gunner (Hoosier) from you November of 2001. The son of Orbit and Ivett. Just wanted to write and let you know how he's doing. He did turn out to be a long hair after all. He is absolutely beautiful! We have gotten him into training. He just needs something to do besides keeping the turkeys off the property! Although he does do that very well! ha ha He's very protective and smart. He certainly keeps the teenage boyfriends of our daughters on their toes! He just parks himself between the girls and their boyfriends and just looks at the boys They don't dare make any moves on his girls! ha ha . I have been watching your site off and on, and Holley, Gunner's sister certainly is impressive! What a wonderful dog!

Hi Farrah, We are in a new series of puppy classes "advanced home companion" it is an 8 week series ending with the test that will get him his 1st certificate from AKC. After that he can start with the Spokane Dog Training clubs agility classes. They do have herding and tracking, but I need to look into it more. He loves to play search and rescue with my kids on the property.... Ryan hides and then yells once and (Hans can barely be contained ) he loves to do this over and over. Hans will run across 20 acres if he knows Ryan has gone to the trees to hide. Well, thats all for now I'll have some more pics to send soon. Located in

Chivas went swimming all on his own today, much to my surprise. We have a big lake next door and he and I have camped out there under an umbrella on my days off. He usually runs in the shallow water to drink and to cool down, but today he jumped after a stick that was floating and had to swim back, after that he made many trips out, he had me worried because he would stick his whole head under to pick something up from the bottom, but he was wagging his tail and running around like crazy in-between "dives". Several people stopped to watch him, and everybody said they had never seen a puppy so comfortable in the water before, I was a very proud mom :) Thanks again for him, I'll keep the updates coming. Greetings Farah.. I will have to take some updated pictures of Maybe, she is so sweet and is a papa's girl. Doesn't want be out of her sight. I have had to leave her a couple times at our Vet's with our Golden for boarding, since we have had some travel to do recently, She weathers that OK. But in a couple weeks we will take her to the Oregon Coast. She weighs about 50 pounds, and is in a holding pattern now for growth, but she will have another spurt soon. Her tail drags the floor, just like when we first brought our Heidi girl home 9 years ago. We love her so much, she is really energetic, and our animal control officer who teaches the Obedience classes loves her greatly. She comes in and works with her when we must leave her at the doctor's office. Long and Short, I am going to have to send you Pictures. Thank you, Ken Located in

Here are some new pictures of Xena (Nalla). I wish you could see
how wonderful Xena has turned out to be. She is such a fun loving dog.
Her temperament is outstanding. She loves going to her doggy day care to
play with her furry friends. She is very well liked there.
I take her for walks with me in an industrial park area and she loves to sniff
anything and everything. She is also very protective of me. One
day we went for a walk and their was a man who was running to his car in the
parking lot towards where we were and Xena was on gaurd. I really
thought that it was wonderful. Xena is a very good protector. I
feel very safe walking with her anywhere. Xena now weighs in at 70
pounds. Her heavy coat is starting to come in quite nicely. I
visit your web site periodically to see what's new. Her siblings are so
beautiful. Take care Farrah. Hope to hear from you soon.

I just wanted you to know that Flirt arrived safe and sound. She only waited 5 minutes for us to get there. She was really hungry, and ate almost two bowls of puppy food. Of course, I had mixed in some filet mignon with a little au jus. She drank a bunch of water and then settled down for the hour drive home. We had decided to name her Sheela. Home of VP2-LeDoux von Kaykohl Land & Tyra von Kaykohl Land Hi Farrah, It
has been some time...
Sage
(Tyra) is just the most amazing dog. Even more so than Cisco (LeDoux)...if
you can believe that... She is so quick to learn anything. She has
overcome her shyness and loves all attention including grooming. She can
already out-run Cisco. Her gate is unbelievable. Although, I must say he
has developed into such a strong dog. His brute strength is quite
alarming at times...even at play. It has been a long time
coming...she has made friends with the cats, and has a special friendship
with one of them. She has taken a few trips without Cisco and does not
miss a beat. She functions well in a group (pack) environment or
alone with equal ease. Together, they are a force to be I would not
want to meet. here are few photo's see how they have developed.

My grandson Jonathan is seven and Matador and he get along the best. Not that he doesn't get along with all my grandchildren, but he and Jonathan are pals where the other children are not as interested. He has no problem sharing his food or taking theirs if he gets a chance. He shared a freeze pop with one the other night. He was in the fenced yard the other evening alone and the neighbor was staring at him he continued to bark at him until Vinnie brought him in. He did not seem to care for him, (neither do we) and has not acted like that with anyone else. Funny how they know at such a young age. He goes to the bathroom out back in the woods and loves the birds, butterflies, and squirrels. They amuse him. He is great in the car. He is a wonderful puppy and we love him. He is also beautiful. Rest easy that he is being spoiled in a good way and we will try our best to help him grow into a very respectable dog. We are so proud of all the compliments we are getting about him but at this point they really belong to you. We are very happy we chose one of your puppies. ![]() Located in Connecticut 150 |

of Remus von Kaykohl Land![]() Farrah - I just thought I'd check in to let you know Monte (Remus) seems to like his new home in Alaska - once he finally made it here! He did very well on the road trip - we have decided he is going to be a traveling dog! We have been home almost a week now and he is settling into a routine. We took him to our Vets on Tuesday - everyone oogled and awed over him. He really is a handsome dog! Our cat Yoda still can't decide if he likes this creature that can follow him everywhere. Monte's new game is to pull Yoda's tail - Yoda does not like that! Monte took his first airplane ride with Al on Saturday. He did very well - just assumed it was a different kind of car. They landed on a beach which provided all sorts of new smells and items to go in his mouth! We have photos to send you one I get them off the camera. Just wanted to Thank You and let you know all was going well. We will be in touch. ![]() ![]() Located in Alaska 154 |

of Elyssa von Kaykohl Land Hi Farrah, Elyssa is now 5 year's old (11/10/2000) and I'd run out of words to describe what a fantastic girl she is - looks, personality & temperament, she has it all. Her coat is now a beautiful/flashy deep red with black saddle and markings, with a lighter cream color in her haunches ("butt feathers"). Everywhere I take Lys, people comment on how gorgeous she is (and she is) and how calm and well behaved and I tell them where I got her and how I'd recommend Kaykohl to anyone interested in a wonderful GSD. Her personality and temperament are phenomenal - she's sweet and loving to me and other family members, bossy (but not mean) to any foster dogs from the rescue group, polite or indifferent to strangers and she has supreme self-confidence. She's silly, smart, alert, and curious - can you tell how pleased I am with her? This past weekend I took her to be evaluated for sheep herding and we had so much fun that we'll start taking classes in January. I've included a couple pictures of Lys and the trainer so you can see that Lys is doing well. She truly is my perfect dog. I often browse your website to see what you have available. When I'm ready for a nice male, I'll be contacting you in the hopes that you may have a nice long-haired puppy or youngster that would like to live in Texas. I know you don't breed for coat but lightening did strike at least once, with Miss Lys. Take care and thanks again for my girl. ![]() Located in Texas 158 |

of Xendie von Kaykohl Land
Just a not to let you know how pleased we are with
Xendie. She is such a lovable dog and fitting in well with the other
dogs and now horse, but the cat we are working on. She is doing well
with the socialization and house breaking and our trainer has us for the
next two weeks doing what he calls pack training (letting her now her
place in the house hold and how to walk on a leash). She only seems
to need to be shown just once and then she has it until a major
distraction but get right back on track . She is magnificent at
least in my eyes, but the trainer did say he has not seen a Shepherd of
her quality around here in a long time and he is sooooooooo looking
forward to working with her (he has actually told a friend of mine that
her standard poodle was of terrible breeding ) so i know he is not just
saying it. He also in his younger day, did train his own Shepherds
in Schutzhund style, but seems to make more money correcting rich
peoples unruly dogs behavior problems, so he is looking forward to
working with her. He did also said that she has the natural tracking
in her she puts her nose to the ground all around the fence as soon a you
let her out. I will send pics as soon a I develop them. Thanks
Farrah for your dedication to your breeding of shepherds.

Hi Farrah! Wanted to drop you a quick note. Leo is doing great. Love at
first sight ! So far nothing seems to faze him, not even the wet vac.
(tomorrow we will meet the leaf blower and maybe the lawnmower). Yesterday
he grabbed a mouthful of Skeeter's fur and tried to mount him (he also takes
the treats away from him)! That little guy got quite the nerve. He gets
along with everybody just fine, the kids adore him and would carry him all
day if they had their way. Will keep you updated!

Thank you for sending the
picture of Walter's sister. She looks very much like Walter and seems
to have the same temperament. Walter didn't pass the open at the
Great Falls show, but he did everything perfect except the broad
jump. He did that great before we went in the ring, but then changed
his mind once he was in the ring and just walked directly to me. He
passed his Delta Society test with flying colors so now we will begin
visiting patients in the hospital. We are going to go to the Helena
show in a couple of weeks to try the open class again. If you
receive any more pictures of Walter's litter I would love to see them.

Farrah, Thank you so much. His temperament is better than I
could have ever imagined. Every outing he impresses me more and more. This
last time a guy had 10 off leash dogs walking in a pack (a Cesar Milan
type…obviously) …Mayfield just mingled with the other dogs as they walked
past us. Once at the watering hole where the dogs swim, he just mingled
with all the dogs again. The guy with all those dogs took a liking to him,
kept petting him and saying what a nice dog he was. OK...clearly I could
talk all day about Mayfield. So I’ll stop now. J
Here’s one more picture of the entire
family.

Home of Gundo von Kaykohl Land I hope this finds you well. We are loving our dog! We have named him Klink (after Commandant Klink of Hogan's Heros) and he has adjusted nicely. I am attaching photos, please let me know if you are not able to see them. The first photo is with our oldest and was in April, the second in December, the third was in November. He is big - he currently weighs about 65-70 lbs and I've been extremely careful not to over feed him; the vet said he is very healthy. He will be 8 months old on June 6th. He is at a professional trainers at present, we will be getting him back in the next couple of weeks. The majority of dogs in this part of the country are labs, it is easy to find a trainers if you have a hunting dog. I wanted someone that has a good bit of experience with German Shephards and I found one not too far from us. He does all of the training for the K-9 dogs with the local and state-wide police deparments and while I don't need him to sniff for drugs, I felt very comfortable that he can help us fine tune what we have tried to teach Klink. I look forward to being able to talk him walking with me in the mornings. I really can't say enough about Klink and how happy we all are. Thank you for taking the time when I first contacted you as well as all those questions I had at the beginning. He fits in so well with our family and we are looking forward to many happy years together! I hope you are all well there, I'm sure you are continuing to make a lot of families very happy!

Home of Harrah von Kaykohl Land I just wanted to give you a brief update on our girl "Faith". As you know she turned 4 moths old last week, has had all of her puppy shots and is a "tremendous animal". Her infancy stage was full of exploration, socialization, nurturing, boundaries and a lot of love. Faith and our older mixed breed Zoie have become best of friends, (as I suspected they would) and Faith is now maturing a bit into the "little girl with the curl". I have taken training slow and allowed her to be a "pup" for the most part. In the areas we have work on she is strong. Strong suits are: Sit, lay-down, heal on leash, house broken 80% (she tries real hard but has an occasional accident) Good performance areas are: Come, stay, heal off leash. All in all she will work hard to please and is not at all shy. Her weight is 32 lbs, but skinny as a rail because she is growing so tall and long. She's great at physical exams, loves to be brushed (though she would rather eat the brush) loves to have her gums massaged and teeth brushed, fine at ear exam and cleaning. She sleeps comfortably through the night in her crate next to me in bed. She finds comfort during the day in the crate as well. We are "slowly" learning to swim. She will jump out of the inflatable boat when she wants and has not yet learned "exactly" where the steps are so she is not allowed unattended by the pool. She loves to dig and I have given her permission in ONE spot in the yard, that she is becoming OK with. Loves to fetch and mostly will "let go". She is still sleep, play, sleep, eat, sleep play mode with a lot of SLEEP!!! Long and short here: Faith is intelligent, faithful, strong of heart and body and we could not be more please to have her as another family member!!! She is happy, health and very loved!!!

Dear Farrah - I will get some pictures of Jimmi to you, however, wanted to
give you an update quickly. As I sit here typing, he is laying at my feet.
He is doing wonderfully and as you said he is truly a wonderful puppy. He
is so photogenic -- we have taken wonderful pictures. His kindness is so
great (Tom gets constant kisses from him) and all this weekend he has played
endlessly with my brother's dog, 2 year old Golden Retriever, Dillan. They
are both napping now, tired from playing. We have the right chew toys
handy. Today, we are going shopping for a larger crate, like Dillan's - he
went right into his to relax. We are so happy with Jimmi. He does make it
known that Tom and I are "his" - a few barks let Dillan know this.
