There are many different types of "breeders".  There are those who have two pure bred dogs, put them together, and produce puppies to sell to supplement their income.  There are those who breed because they love the breed, want to improve it, and improve quality in each generation.  And there are the ones in between.  I strongly place myself in the second category. 

This wonderful breed has helped me through many obstacles in my life, I learned how to walk holding onto one, held one during difficult teenage years, watched both of my children learn how to walk holding onto one, and now get the enjoyment of seeing my children in the show ring and working field with dogs from generations of my breeding program.  With the health problems and temperament problems that the breed can be inflicted with, it is my passion to ensure there are healthy and sound dogs for my great-grandchildren to one day own.  I have never lived without one of these special dogs in my home, and cannot imagine a day without them.

What type of people purchase dogs from Kaykohl Land?  We have sold dogs to Police Officers, K-9 Handlers, Business Professionals, Ranchers, Professional Dog Trainers, AKC Breed Judges, Professional Sports Players, Schutzhund Enthusiasts, and most importantly, American Families.  All puppies are AKC registered by us with the AKC and will come with a written LIFETIME health warranty and sales contract.  Every puppy is tattooed for permanent identification and have their first vaccinations given at 7 weeks.  All puppies come with a puppy folder with care and feeding instructions, information on basic training and potty training, copy of their pedigree, photos of their parents, and a lot of other useful  information.  We are here for our puppy buyers for the LIFE of their puppy, not just until their check is cashed.  We care for every life we create and LOVE updates from our puppy buyers so we know how our dogs are producing.  We will gladly provide references from previous buyers, other breeders, and trainers upon request.  

Having the fourth most AKC Registered breed in the country, with over 45,000 German Shepherds registered in 2005, (and over 15,000 litters!), a buyer needs to decide what type of breeder they would like to support.  As a minimum, we breed to only males from our European line breeding program, imported from Europe or located in Europe, with certified hips and a strong hip production behind them.  ALL males we breed to must be able to breed naturally.  Even though we own very nice well respected males, we frequently use other studs around the world if we feel they would better complement the goals of that particular litter.   Convenience and cost is never our top priority in producing excellent quality puppies.   All of our females have a hip evaluation done prior to breeding and are either titled or certified with a minimum CGC or are in the midst of doing so.  They also undergo a complete health examination prior to being bred to ensure they are in proper condition to care for and raise a litter at that time.  We would never jeopardize the health or well-being of our dogs just to produce puppies.  All of our females whelp their litters naturally with little to no assistance.  We do not have females in our program who have problems whelping, carrying puppies, or who need to have cesarean sections performed.

Our dogs are not only "Breeding Dogs" but are also active members of our family.   Our dogs can be found with us at our childrens' soccer games, ballet practice, camping, on the foot of our bed, or anywhere else they are allowed (and sometimes not allowed) to go.  Kaykohl Land dogs can be found competing in Schutzhund, Obedience, and Conformation events not only in the US, but also in Europe.
